This December we have presented the new programming for the museum for 2014, but before finishing 2013 we would like to take a look back over the activities, exhibitions and work that have been carried out during this year that is coming to a close. Here is a selection of images of the highlights of the museum during 2013:

· 50 years of the Museu Picasso in Barcelona: we have commemorated the 50th anniversary of the creation of the museum. To celebrate it we programmed a series of three exhibitions about the Origins of the museum, the Collection and The Exhibitions, and on the same day itself of the anniversary, we offered an open doors day in which the staff of the museum shared their knowledge about the works of Picasso from the Collection with the public. In the blog you can also find several articles devoted to our anniversary, such as the narration by the journalist Lluís Permanyer about the arrival of the series of Las Meninas to the museum.

· Memory workshop for the elderly: this activity of proximity has been developed during the year, designed to get the elderly people from the neighbourhood close to the work and life of Picasso by means of a workshop that, on the one hand, stimulates the cognitive skills of the participants, and on the other hand, boosts their social and cultural relationships.
· Ask a Curator: this is an international initiative that encourages people from all over the world to ask the curators and workers of the museums specific things about their work via Twitter using the hashtag #aksacurator. The museums registered for the 2013 edition increased significantly, with 622 institutions from 37 different countries, and with questions and answers sent via more than 26,000 tweets.

We will be beginning next year with a lot of enthusiasm because of the changes brought in by our new managing system of a foundation. And we will keep on working so that the institution continues to be a centre of reference and knowledge about Picasso, committed to research, exhibitions, conservation, education, and publications amongst others, by maintaining our Collection as the main axis.
Happy Holidays!
