2012 of the Museu Picasso in images

We are starting 2013 very much on the right foot and with good perspectives for the future of the museum.  Nevertheless, we don’t want to forget everything we did in 2012, so you can find here a small selection of images of some of the projects we carried out in the museum last year:

In 2012 we started a new period in the hands of the director Bernardo Laniado-Romero, focusing especially on a revision of the Collection of the museum, as well as giving emphasis to education and accessibility from all the fields.

It was also a year of exhibitions. In March we opened the exhibition “A Collage before Collage” to the public which reflected on the background to this technique and its presence in the popular culture of the time, of which the young Picasso provided us with references.  In May with “Economy: Picasso” we entered into the intricate world of the economy of art, based on the contemporary vision of the artist Pedro G. Romero. Also during the same month it was possible to visit a small format exhibition-homage to Javier Vilató, nephew of Picasso, entitled “Vilató 1921-2000. Barcelona – Paris. The Road to Freedom”.

Finally, on the occasion of the donation by Jacqueline Picasso of some forty ceramic pieces by the artist to the collection of the museum, the exhibition “Picasso ceramics. Jacqueline’s gift to Barcelona” was curated with all the pieces that can be visited until April 2013.

Moreover, during 2012 an intense work was carried out in the rooms: from changes to the permanent Collection to the restoration of the Neoclassical Room of the museum, one of the rooms included in the circuit of the museum.

At a more technological level of the museum, we participated as co-organisers in the edition of the Museum Next ’12 in Barcelona, as well as in the second edition of the conference through Twitter “Ask a Curator”. Furthermore, we set in motion for the first time the website of the museum adapted to the mobile so as to be able to consult the main contents of the website from anywhere and everywhere.

For the third year in a row the museum held the Big Draw. La festa del Dibuix, a major success in terms of participation! The Reading Club of the museum also consolidated itself one more year with a good number of participants. Among other activities, in November, we co-organized a seminar with the Fundación Francisco Godia on sponsorship and the arts, which attracted the attention of collectors, sponsoring companies as well as professionals from the arts field.

With regard to our more immediate environment, in 2012 we held the first workshop on memory for the elderly with the aim of getting the elderly of the neighbourhood closer to the work and life of Picasso. Furthermore, we also consolidated the work with teachers, with the organisation of two training courses for teachers in the summer, and with the schools from the surrounding area, as for example the training for teachers from l’Escola Pere Vila.
We are starting 2013 with a lot of energy and excitement, as this year we’ll be 50!  Keep your eyes open for the exhibitions and activities planned to celebrate this.

Howdy would you mind stating which blog platform you’re
working with? I’m looking to start my own blog in the near future but
I’m having a difficult time choosing between BlogEngine/Wordpress/B2evolution and Drupal.
The reason I ask is because your layout seems different then most
blogs and I’m looking for something completely unique.
P.S Apologies for being off-topic but I had to ask!
