For the second consecutive year, and as final year project, the students of composition of the Conservatori del Liceu have composed a musical piece based on works of the museum collection. In this project, the Conservatori del Liceu and the Museu Picasso have worked on exploring the new interpretations that other artistic languages and new generations of creators can contribute to the works of our collection. Changes in the Collection of the Museu Picasso

It is a well known fact that museums do not permanently exhibit all the works of their collections. For reasons of conservation or due to the curatorial discourse, a large number of drawings and paintings are systematically changed, turning the Collection into a living organism that is renewed and modified non-stop. Our Collection is very rich in terms of works on paper - drawings and prints, that, for reasons of preventive conservation, oblige us to change them every three or four months. The work of extending the Museum is now progressing at a good pace

After several months of intense archaeological work occasioned by the discovery of remains of mediaeval and Roman Barcelona just as excavation of the site was getting under way, the construction firm has finally been able to bring in the machines and start work. At present it seems as if all there is to see is a big hole, but a closer look reveals the structural elements of the building - the pillars, the bearing walls and the entire perimeter. (more…)
