This autumn we are renewing the galleries of the collection

Last week we started the changes to the permanent collection of the museum to renew the galleries for this autumn. Throughout the year we have been systematically changing a certain number of drawings and paintings, turning, in this way, the collection into a living organism which is renewed and modified non-stop. The changes to the Collection this January

This week we have started to make new changes to the permanent Collection of the museum that will be carried out throughout the month of January. This renovation includes the rotation of pieces that have to rest for reasons of preventive conservation, the temporary loan of works to other exhibitions, and the restructuring of the exhibition space so that the tour of the exhibition maintains a coherent discourse.  As follows we will explain the changes, gallery by gallery: Gallery 1: On the occasion of the third exhibition of the fiftieth anniversary, “50 years of the Museu Picasso in Barcelona: The Exhibitions”, ...

The catalogues of exhibitions have a double life.  On the one hand, they are the testimony of a temporary and short-lived event that gathers together a series of works and documents in one place and in one space, selected by the curators to illustrate or suggest an idea, a thesis, that structures and covers both the exhibition and the catalogue.  On the other hand, once the period of time has passed in which we are allowed to live the experience of the exhibition, the catalogue loses this original temporality and becomes an essay, a specialised monograph. Renovation of the galleries of the Collection

This autumn the Collection is renewing itself again with the return of works loaned to various exhibitions and the rotation of pieces that, for reasons of preventive conservation, cannot be permanently exhibited in the galleries of the museum.
