For the second consecutive year, and as final year project, the students of composition of the Conservatori del Liceu have composed a musical piece based on works of the museum collection. In this project, the Conservatori del Liceu and the Museu Picasso have worked on exploring the new interpretations that other artistic languages and new generations of creators can contribute to the works of our collection. Pi, pica, picas(so): music and neighbourhood in the museum

Within the project entitled Pi, pica, picas(so), and for the second year in a row, the Museu Picasso opened its doors one Spring Monday for the boys and girls from the nursery schools of the neighbourhood to offer them a live music concert given by the group Tres & Jazz. The musical proposal was inspired by a selection of five paintings, a piece of pottery by Picasso and some photographs that the children had the chance to look at and observe in detail during the school course. More than a performing arts season: a great experience of working together!

We are launching the Meeting Point Season of Multidisciplinary Performing Arts, a brand new venture conceived as an exploration of how the languages of circus, dance and music interrelated and in turn give rise to new languages and new disciplines. These creative fields are very close to the processes and interests of Pablo Picasso, but at the same time they are disciplines that have undergone a formal and conceptual evolution. Here at the Museum we wanted to explore this evolution and contribute to a tremendously vital cultural moment that is of great relevance today. (more…)
