This autumn we are renewing the galleries of the collection

Last week we started the changes to the permanent collection of the museum to renew the galleries for this autumn. Throughout the year we have been systematically changing a certain number of drawings and paintings, turning, in this way, the collection into a living organism which is renewed and modified non-stop. As a result of the collaboration with the Aichi Prefectural Museum of Art, Nagoya (Japan), from September 8th to December 14th, we are presenting in our galleries the work Woman in blue shawl, accompanied by the works from the Blue Period of our collection. Inhabitants of the museum: Àngel Fernández de Soto, the dandy friend of Picasso

Àngel Fernández de Soto Llassat was born in Barcelona in 1882, his father being from Madrid and his mother from Tortosa who had settled in the city of Barcelona.  Along with his brother Mateu, they would frequent the tavern the Quatre Gats, where they met up with Picasso. We’re renovating the galleries of the permanent Collection this spring

Spring is the time for changes and during the Mondays of this month of May we will be making changes to the galleries of the Collection. The reasons for these periodical changes are in some cases for preventive conservation issues and also for reformulations of the expositive discourse of the galleries, either to show works that are not habitually seen or for temporary loans to exhibitions of the museum or of other museums. Inhabitants of the museum: Jaume Sabartés, the secretary, friend and confidante of Picasso

Jaume Sabartés i Gual was born in Barcelona on June 10th 1881 in the street of Sant Pere més Baix, nº 84. He was the son of Francisco Sabartés Obach, a primary school teacher, from Oliana, and Marial Gual Oromí, from Barcelona.
