The Blue Period of Picasso: more than meets the eye

On Friday January 30th we held the seminar “The Blue Period: New Interpretations by Means of Technical Studies” at the Museu Picasso. The seminar provided us with plenty of new information that posed many challenges both for restorers as well as for art historians. Picasso’s study of the street of la Riera de Sant Joan of Barcelona

Throughout his life, Picasso worked in several studios and workshops. During the years he lived in Barcelona he shared studios with other artists: one of them was located on number 17 of Riera de Sant Joan street. Changes in the collection this autumn

This autumn will be time for renovation and during the months of September and October we will be making changes to the galleries of the permanent collection of the museum, so as to adapt the spaces to the movements of the works, produced, on the one hand, to maintain the criteria of preventive conservation that we apply to the works of the museum (especially the works on paper) and, on the other hand, due to the loans of works that we do to other exhibitions and that other museums and collectionsoffer us. The changes to the Collection this January

This week we have started to make new changes to the permanent Collection of the museum that will be carried out throughout the month of January. This renovation includes the rotation of pieces that have to rest for reasons of preventive conservation, the temporary loan of works to other exhibitions, and the restructuring of the exhibition space so that the tour of the exhibition maintains a coherent discourse.  As follows we will explain the changes, gallery by gallery: Gallery 1: On the occasion of the third exhibition of the fiftieth anniversary, “50 years of the Museu Picasso in Barcelona: The Exhibitions”, ...
